This is part 3 of the Crochet Along Fidget/Sensory Blanket for Alzheimer’s. This post gives the pattern for the last three blocks for the blanket. See Part 1 and Part 2 before proceeding.
In this part you’ll be needing a little more notions like rope, zipper, beads and buttons to sew on the fabric. As I mentioned in part 1, please do not use notions that can easily be bitten in half.
It’s ok if you sell items you made using LM patterns. And I’d really love it if you mentioned it was from LM.
And please, do not sell or mass produce LM patterns- (the only exception is if you are donating the handmade items to charity)

Gauge: 12 rows by 15 stitches = 4 by 4 inches (after blocking)
You’ll need:
Stitches/Abbreviation
HDC- half double crochet
SC- single crochet
CH- chain
SL ST- slip stitch
SC2tog- single crochet decrease or single crochet 2 together
SC3tog- single crochet decrease or single crochet 3 together

Notes:
Block 4- Beads
Tip: after ‘dropping’ the beads, pull out the string to a preferred length (as in the photo below) before continuing the next stitches.
String 34 beads
Row 1: Chain 30, HDC in 2nd ch from hook, HDC across.
Rows 2-5: HDC across. Ch 1, turn
Row 6: HDC 6, Sl st in next, drop 4 beads, Sl st in same st, HDC across. ch 1, turn
Row 7: HDC across. ch 1, turn
Row 8: HDC 14, Sl st in next, drop 5 beads, Sl st in same st, HDC 11, Sl st in next st, drop 3 bead, Sl st in same st, HDC in 4. Ch 1, turn
Rows 9-13: HDC across. Ch 1, turn
Row 14: HDC 3, Sl st in next st, drop 5 beads, Sl st in same st, HDC across. ch 1, turn
Row 15: HDC across. ch 1, turn
Row 16: (HDC 9, Sl st in next st, drop 4 beads, Sl st in same st,) twice, HDC 9. Ch 1, turn
Row 17: HDC across. ch 1, turn
Row 18: HDC 5, Sl st in next st, drop 3 beads, Sl st in same st, (HDC 8, Sl st in next st, drop 3 beads, Sl st in same st) twice, HDC 5. Ch 1, turn
Rows 19-20: HDC across. Continue to edging.
Edging– Repeat this edging for all the blocks
Ch 1, SC 20 evenly on the side, Ch 1, SC 29 at the bottom, Ch 1, SC 20 on the side, Ch 1, join to 1st HDC. Snip yarn, weave in tail
Block 5- Buttoned Triangles
Row 1: Chain 30, HDC in 2nd ch from hook, HDC across. Ch 1, turn
Rows 2-20: HDC across. ch 1, turn. Continue to edging, snip yarn, weave in tail.
Triangles– make 4 (2 in Main colour, 2 in Contrast colour)
Row 1: Chain 12, SC in 2nd cha from hook, SC 10. Ch 1, turn
Row 2: SC2tog, SC 7, SC2tog. Ch 1, turn
Row 3: SC across. ch 1, turn
Row 4: SC2tog, SC 5, SC2tog. Ch 1, turn
Row 5: SC across. ch 1, turn
Row 6: SC2tog, SC 3, SC2tog. Ch 1, turn
Row 7: SC 2, Ch 2, skip 1 st, SC 2. Ch 1, turn
Row 8: SC2tog, SC 1 in ch 2 space, SC2tog. Ch 1, turn
Row 9: SC3tog. Snip yarn, weave in tails
Sew triangles on to fabric, and the buttons also, positioning them right in the middle of the Chain 2 space.
Block 6- zipper and roped panels
Row 1: Chain 30, HDC in 2nd ch from hook, HDC across. Ch 1, turn
Rows 2-20: HDC across. Ch 1, turn. Continue to edging, snip yarn, weave in tail.
Roped Panels
Row 1: Chain 17, HDC in 2nd ch from hook, HDC across. ch 1, turn
Rows 2-6: HDC across, ch 1, turn
Row 7: (on the first panel only) SC 1, Ch 2, skip next st, *SC 2, ch 2, skip next st. repeat from * 3 times. SC in last 2 sts
(on the second panel only) *SC 2, Ch 2, skip next st. repeat from * 4 times. SC in last st. Ch 1, turn
Row 8: SC across.
Place panels on fabric with the same sides facing up (you would know this by looking at the last row of stitches- they would both be on the Right Side).
Sew the panels on the sides, pass rope through, sew the zipper, weave in tails, snip yarn.
And now we can go on to joining the blocks and making the border in Part 4.

I am currently making it for my dad but I am having trouble with how to actually string the beads on... any help you could give me would be awesome!
I thread the required amount of beads on to the yarn before I start the project and then slide them along the yarn when they’re needed.
How can I adjust the squares to fit a prek child? Do you know of any patterns for a child with Autism? Thank you for your help. Love this blanket
At the moment,I have no knowledge of the crocheted fidget blanket for PreK.
What you can do is start with a lesser number of chains. This pattern says 30, you can make yours 20 or lesser, and also reduce the number of rows.
Question: when it says to see sides of triangle are you referring to all 3 sides or just the top one. I wasnt sure if it was ment to practice buttoning.
It would be just the top of the triangle, so that the button can actually be used.
I would really like more patterns on making the crochet twiddle pads. My mother suffered with alzhimers and seeing the things as simple as folding a towel which at one time she did so well I would like to start trying to make different things like this to donate. Please if you can lead me to free patterns for this I would much appreciate it. I have just been told that I am showing early signs of dementia.
