Changing yarn in crochet

Changing yarn in crochet does not have to be daunting and/or messy; even while using multiple yarns.

There are different ways this is done. It could be at the end of a row/round or between stitches. This photo tutorial shows the simple way I change yarn while crocheting.

Note:

1. Yarn A (green) Yarn B (yellow)

2. This technique also works if you’re using a graph.

Finish off a stitch by joining the new colour/yarn. As seen in first photo, the yarn b is used to finish yarn a, and vice versa in photo two.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Move yarn b (yellow) forward when no longer needed for the row. Unless a pattern indicates to carry the yarn along to the end of a row/round.

The reason for bringing yarn b forward is so that when you finish the row and turn, it’s easier to pick up the yarn b (assuming you’ll be using it in the next row).

 

 

 

 

 

 

Changing At the End of Row

to change yarn at the end of a row, you either join a new yarn or carry one along to the end
